Since someone asked about this at the last meeting, here’s how I ended up finishing that story I posted a couple months back.

Here’s a comic I did in high school (so uh, like 10 years ago). I’ll have to add in the speech bubbles later, figured I’d just post the art since I had that in high-quality format.
It’s about a kid who wakes up in a science-facility, escapes, and learns he’s been given super-powers.

Here’s something I’ve been working on lately.
Sorry the color on the third page is a little funky — haven’t had a chance to go back and make it match the other pages yet.
Mini-Anthology Update (and puppies) November 7, 2009

For those of you who weren’t at the meeting on Wednesday: Due to popular demand for an extension (you lazy bastards you), the submission deadline for the mini anthology has now been pushed back to Thanksgiving — Nov. 26th. Meaning, you’ve all got another three-ish weeks to get your submissions ready and emailed to me.
Guidelines:
* These minis will be photocopied, so keep it black-and-white.
* Try to pick pages which will render well when shrunk to 8.5” x 5.5” (i.e., half a sheet of printer paper)
* To cover printing costs, we’re asking artists to give $5 to the Photocopy Fund per page they want included. This will cover the printing of 100 copies.
* Email images (.pdfs or .jpegs are best) of the all pages you want included to me at melanie dot gillman at colorado dot edu. Also, include a short bio/website address if you’d like — this will go on the Contributor’s page.
* Do this all ON OR BEFORE THANKSGIVING.
And last, for anyone who’s interested, here are a couple pieces of extra credit:
* This anthology will also need a cover! If you want to submit one, send it my way. If we get multiple submissions, we’ll put it to a vote.
* Once all the submissions have been gathered, we’ll need some volunteers to help with the printing and distributing. We can pick some weekend date and all storm Copy Experts, then go a-rampagin’ around Boulder, leaving a trail of destruction and/or mini-comics in our wake. Booze might also be involved.
And, that all being said, I leave you with puppies.
Fun with brush pens October 8, 2009

Here’s a quick little 3-pager I drew to try out some new fancy-schmancy brush pens.
Also, to follow up on the mini-anthology idea: in order to give us some time to get our pieces ready, I think the most fair way to go about this is to set a submission deadline. Therefore, watch as I pull a date out of my ass: Sunday, November 1st. If you want a piece of yours to be included in the mini anthology, then send me your black and white .pdfs or .jpegs before that day. After that, we can get together something of a photocopying/assembling team to put them all together, then merrily spread them around Boulder for the enjoyment of all.
A reminder: as this is going to be a free-to-the-public, not-intended-for-retail-sale kind of mini, you will need to chip in for printing costs if you want a piece included. $5 per page will cover your entry into 100 copies (or, we hope, 100 potential new readers) — so, a one-page comic is $5, two pages is $10, and so on.
Also, if anyone has an idea for a good cover and wants to submit that, send it my way too! If we get multiple people who turn in cover ideas, we can schedule a pen-nib fight to decide, or maybe just put it to a vote.
In any case, all images can be directed to me at melanie dot gillman at colorado dot edu.

I’ll probably do a bit of tidying up here and there before I call these “finished”, but for the most part this is what the end product will look like.

9/9/09 Addition: Pages 10-13. (Three more to go!)
