I finally finished my 1-pager. Mostly I was working on my style. Pencil alone didn’t seem to look that great, so I tried inking with thin sharpy & leaving the pencils. I like the results & hope to take it further in my next comic.

I made this editorial cartoon for a friend’s website. It’s a satire of how republicans blame Obama for everything and a satire of editorial cartoons in general. I hate politics, such a waste of time. ~John

Welcome! August 7, 2009

Here’s the tentative start of a homepage for our comics club!  Huzzah!

If you want in on this thing, shoot me an email (melanie-dot-gillman-at-colorado-dot-edu) and I’ll add you to the list of site users, so you can start posting things.  I think you’ll need to get a WordPress account in order to do that (unless somebody knows how to allow anonymous posting?), but it’s free and only cost me about 30 seconds of username deliberation, so I think you can probably handle it.

One thing that’s nice about this site is that you can upload images directly to the blog, rather than having to go through an image hosting site like Photobucket.  As an example, here’s a quick comic I did today to atone for how much time I’ve been spending reading Scott Pilgrim:
